I needed an engineer to evaluate some work done to a basement foundation wall in a home I was buying. Ragavan was the only engineer that was able to come out and take a look on the short notice I required. He was also able to get me the report prior to the end of the inspection period, as needed. I had some initial concerns as it was hard to nail down what time he would be showing up, and I was concerned the seller would not be there to let him in. However, he communicated with me and the seller to ensure it wasn't a problem. Ragavan seemed knowledgeable and adept at his job and was able to answer all of my questions onsite, as well as questions I had regarding the report. Additionally, Ragavan was willing to talk to the seller to make sure they understood what needed to be done in order to make the wall structurally sound, even following up with an email including a sketch. I needed someone to come out in a very short time frame other companies said that they would not be able to come for weeks. I called on a Thursday, and the were out the next day by 12:30 p.m. also they make it easy to pay for the service. Thanks guys for making it possible to buy my new house.

Upon our VA Appraisal inspection, some crumbling skim coat was found in the 1900's farmhouse we are purchasing. Ragavan was able to make it out within an extremely short time frame to assess the structure and ensure no foundation issues. We were able to fix the problem and pass inspections with flying colors. Our evening home inspection revealed some potentially serious foundational issues in the basement. A quick Google search told me that Stable Struct was the only structural engineer company that was still open so late, and I was able to schedule a inspection for the following morning. Our realtor met him at the house, and she said he was very thorough and did a great job of showing and explaining the issues that he found. I wish I could give a positive review of this company but I can't. I called to get a quote on what it would cost for a structural engineer to look at a house I am renovating for someone. I was told it would cost $xx0 for him to come out and give me his opinion. I was also told that if he wrote a summary report it would cost an additional $xx0 for a total of $xx0. I told him on the phone I just wanted his opinion and didn't need a report. A guy named Ragavan met me and we spent about 45 minutes looking at the project. We looked in the basement, inside the house, and outside the house. He gave me his opinion on how to proceed with the project. One of his suggestions was to anchor an exterior brick wall to 2 by 4 wall studs in the house. He also advised me to attach some temporary boards to the floor joists using metal clips until the work is completed. I asked him if he could send me a link for these clips so I could buy them and he said he would. After our meeting I then wanted to pay him but was told I would get a bill via email. Several days later I received a bill for $350! I immediately wrote back and told him I was quoted $xx0 for an opinion only. I also had come to realize that that the advice I had been given, to attach the exterior brick wall to 2 by 4 wall studs was not good advice at all since in this house there are no wall studs since it is a brick house! I also brought this to his attention. He told me he had made a mistake and sent me a new bill for $xx0. Regarding the advice about the 2 by 4's he asked me to call him so he could offer new advice. I asked if we could meet somewhere instead since I find it very hard to understand Ragavan because of his accent. He agreed and met me at the house again. He looked at the house again and came to the conclusion that this was a project that he was not interested in being involved with. He then told me he would refer me to another engineer. Since he was backing out of the project and since I am now going to have to consult with another engineer, and since his advice about the 2 by 4's was impossible to put into practice I asked him about his fee and he told me he would not charge me. I told him I needed to talk to this new engineer asap. I also asked him again if he could email me the link for the clips he told me I needed to use and he said he would. That was the last I heard from him. It's been over a week and I've emailed him once or twice to let him know I need the referral and the link but he has failed to contact me at all. So for me contacting this company was a complete waste of time. I also think it is very unprofessional for an engineer to tell someone they are going to refer someone and then just not do it...........More >> << Less
